XBridge LEDs and their meaning

Postby NoDot » Tue Oct 19, 2004 3:50 pm

This is a short summary of the meaning of the LEDs on the FIFO board on the XBridge. If you experience trouble with XBridge, please indicate in your postings the states and behavior of these LEDs.

Green: flashing means the PIC on the FIFO board is running.

Red: either the input or output buffer (one LED for each buffer) of the FIFO experienced an overflow. The LED will be then permanently on to indicate this situation.

Yellow: error in the serial communiation between XPort and FIFO board (probably a misconfiguration of the serial speed on the XPort -> telnet and check for entry 1 in the menu)

Blue: data transfer between XPort and FIFO board (one LED for each direction). The LEDs will flash sometimes very short.

Particle LEDS

Postby al » Fri Apr 29, 2005 2:54 pm

the particles generally carry 2 led. blue and red.

Under normal operation:
if the blue led is on, the synchronization is active, the particle has found a communication partner.
The red led blinking means that the rf communication stack is running. blinking fast means the synchronized, blinking slower means "looking for a partner"

additionally, the behaviour of the led can be changed with the function
AppSetLEDBehaviour()
with paramerters:
LEDS_NORMAL: like above explained
LEDS_ON_RECEIVE: blue flashes, when packet received, red normal
LEDS_ON_SEND: blue flashes when packet set, red normal
LEDS_ON_CRC_ERROR: blue flashed for good packet, red flashes for packet with crc error

on the subject of Particle LED lights, can u ever have the Particle turned on, but none of the LEDs are blinking?

i suspect one of my Particles is low on battery, but I don't want to overcharge it and risk any damage.

thanks.
Cheers.

well, as there is only ONE led on the Ssimp board, and it is not a RGB led, the color code is AMBER.

Additionally, the LED is just turned on when initializing the SSimp. No further function. You can use it for whatever purpose
